Italy is one of largest prepaid market in Europe and the sector is still growing despite the rise of the digital channel. A low internet and smartphone penetration rate has meant the country is behind its European counterparts in terms of digital payments but a young population suggests this is due for rapid growth in the near future.

The global economic crisis and conservative consumer spending behavior are expected to provide opportunities for the growth of prepaid cards over the forecast period (2014-2018). Prepaid cards are expected to be the most popular as they allow customers to eliminate wasteful spending and pre-define their spending limits. An inclination towards controlling expenditure and educating the public with regards to the benefits of prepaid card has encouraged their use. Italian legislation is pushing the adoption of prepaid cards by making e-payments mandatory for amounts above EUR1,000.

Italy is seen by many as a case study of what can be achieved by prepaid cards and testing ground for innovative new products. Unlike other countries, where prepaid cards users represent a small percentage, in Italy they are truly mass-market payment tools driving the payments ecosystem.

Changes and Cancellation We reserve the right to change event details if necessary, although we will endeavor to keep all changes to a minimum. We will inform you as soon as possible of important changes, for example name or date changes.

Substitutions may be made in writing at any time and will incur no penalty fee. Cancellations without a substitute delegate received a month prior to the event will be subject to a 20% cancellation charge. Delegates canceling after this date without a substitute delegate will be required to pay the full fee and no refund will be made. Cancellations must be received in writing or via email and will not be accepted over the phone.

Force Majeure.We reserve the right to cancel the event by reason of Force Majeure, included but not limited to fire, flood, extreme weather conditions, acts of war or violence, malicious damage, explosion, earthquake, strike, civil disturbances, political unrest, riot, labour dispute, power cuts or any other extraneous variable beyond FNP’s control.

The annual Prepaid Middle Europe Awards Ceremony will take place on November 10 2015

NOMINATION GUIDELINES

  • Deadline for awards nomination is 5pm GMT on 25th September 2015
  • Submissions can be made on behalf of your own company or in recognition of a colleague or a partner firm
  • Nominees should follow the guidelines to ensure their submission has the best chance of winning
  • Send your completed nomination to PSEawards15@timetric.com


Be open about your achievements
Information on submissions labelled CONFIDENTIAL will only be shown to members of the judging panel so please be open about successes. At the same time, even where financial information is in the public domain, please include it to provide a full picture of performance.

Support your opinions with facts
When judges compare companies on various criteria, a company which can quote data on customer satisfaction will be given precedence over one which claims “market-leading service quality” without evidence.

Be concise
Bullet points and short paragraphs supported by a couple of charts or graphs are better than long-winded presentations. Full nominations should be kept to a maximum of 1,200 words.

What makes you unique?
In every category, we are looking for companies that stand out from the crowd. When you list the things you do well, don’t forget to emphasise where you feel you are unique among your competitors, or where you do things differently from the rest of the industry.

Follow the guidelines
While you are invited to raise any point you feel strengthens your nomination, we recommend clearly and directly addressing each point listed in the category criteria – this allows judges to easily compare like with like, and will make sure there are no areas in which your nomination has nothing to say for itself.

Keep it current
Remember that in almost all categories, the award title contains the words “of the year”. For maximum impact, please refer to developments made and performance achieved in the last 12 months. While a record of success won’t hurt a nomination, it is the most recent activity that will win awards for nominees.


Categories and Judging Criteria
Awards will be selected from the nominations across Europe, with specific selection criteria for each individual award. The award categories will be applied for activities in the last 12 months, not general category excellence. A panel of judges will select the winners from among those organisations nominated by readers or judges


Best Mobile Wallet/Alternative/Emerging

The Award will recognise the best mobile wallet or other e-money product,
payment solution or bill payment solutions that would be considered alternative


Best
Remittances/Government/Financial Inclusion

The award will
recognise best practice in improving accessibility and security of remittances
transfers, P2P improved competition and financial inclusion, serving
underbanked/unbanked segments of society, thus contributing to development and
growth


Corporate/Travel Programme

This award will go to the best corporate
prepaid card , travel programme or virtual product that demonstrates commercial
success with an innovative card application that has responded to targeted
consumers’ needs offering convenience, flexibility and fee transparency.


Gift/Incentive Open & Closed Loop Programme

  • Open to any gift card/incentive card
  • A new card product with
    significant unique features
  • New to issuer, market or
    both in the last 12 months
  • Acquired significant number of new accounts in six months
