The president of Visa John Partridge will retire at the end of March, having worked for the company for 13 years. Until then he will work with chief executive Charles Scharf on the transition.

Since joining Visa, Partridge had presided over technology, emerging product, processing and client service functions. Recently he led the integration of acquisitions including CyberSource, PlaySpan and Fundamo.

Partridge joined the global scheme in 1999 as the president and chief executive of Inovant, the company that owns and operates VisaNet; the card issuer’s electronic payment processing service.

Since then he has played a variety of different roles, serving as chief operating officer and helping to transform Visa from a membership association owned by financial institutions to a publicly traded company.
