MasterCard, C-Sam and Japanese company Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) have joined forces to launch a white-label NFC mobile wallet service in Japan.

The NFC services incorporate C-Sam’s Mobile Transaction Platform (MTP), MasterCard’s PayPass contactless payment solution and DNP’s mobile wallet.

Users of the wallet solution can add services such as loyalty cards and mobile coupons. Retailers can offer special discount programs and customised deals based on a customer’s purchasing history.

This is not the first mobile wallet that has incorporated C-Sam’s MTP and MasterCard’s contactless solution. A platform was launched in Singapore in August 2012 that brought the two companies together and also included StarHub, DBS Bank and EZ-Link.

During the Japanese launch, DNP will provide technical support, including supporting the IT infrastructure, custom mobile wallet development services and the Service Provider TSM (SP-TSM) for PayPass – the software that allows MasterCard to provision and manage PayPass.

The three companies hope to increase the popularity of mobile wallets in Japan amongst both consumers and retailers.
