PayPal, a global e-commerce business, has extended its capabilities to add support for prepaid gift cards, allowing shoppers to redeem their gift cards online.
The company stated that the patent-pending and innovative way to accept prepaid gift cards follows several months of research and investigations.
The service allows the usage of prepaid gift cards for the purchase of products and services anywhere PayPal is accepted.
PayPal said that this new ability to accept prepaid gift cards means that customers can now pay anytime anywhere and with any card.
As long as the merchants accept PayPal, customers can be assured that they now have extra buying power on top of their existing debit, credit cards or banks, the company added.
In October, PayPal inked a deal with Blackhawk Network to launch its gift card services to PayPal’s digital wallet.
