Bank Norwegian, a Norway-based digital lender, has expanded its collaboration with TietoEVRY for access to credit card services in Germany and Spain.

TietoEVRY already offers Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) card services for the bank in Norway, Sweden, Finland as well as Denmark.

The partnership with TietoEVRY Card Issuing and Financial Crime Prevention will bring the same set of card and fraud prevention services in Germany and Spain, where the bank intends to go live in the final quarter of this year.

TietoEVRY head of Financial Crime Prevention Gunnar Koren said: “This is an important agreement, as insight and data from new countries will further improve our services and contribute to preventing financial fraud.”

Founded in 2007, Bank Norwegian is a fully digital bank for retail customers.

The lender has 1.7 million customers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

Bank Norwegian head of New Markets Merete Eikeseth Gillund said: “The extension of our existing agreement with TietoEVRY will secure that we enter both Germany and Spain with well-proven and competitive solutions.

“It is important for Bank Norwegian to have access to innovative solutions with high availability. Our goal as a fully digital bank is to provide easy-to-use and standardised digital products also for the new markets.”

Finland-based TietoEVRY caters to thousands of enterprise and public sector customers in more than 90 countries. The firm has a workforce of nearly 24,000 worldwide.

Last year in October, biometric fintech Zwipe teamed up with TietoEVRY to roll out biometric payment solutions for banks in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

The solutions will be based on the Zwipe Pay ONE platform. The deal sees Zwipe offering TietoEVRY technical support on biometric payment card integration, enrolment solutions, and end-to-end advisory.
