Visa Europe, Czech Komerční banka,
Telefónica and Samsung have partnered to provide 2,000
users of Samsung Galaxy SIII with an NFC-enabled SIM card.
Users will be offered the chance to swap their
current SIM cards with an NFC one, pre-loaded with CZK250
(USD12.7).

To make payments users need to have (or open)
a Komerční banka account and download an app from Visa website.
“Together with our partners, it is our goal to
introduce the technology of mobile contactless payments as an
alternative to cash payments. The mobile payments offer a high
level of convenience, speed and security. For merchants, they bring
the new system of client service,” said Miloslav Kozler, Visa
Europe regional manager for contactless and mobile projects in the
Czech Republic and Slovakia.
“Today, we are presenting the way people will
pay in the future. We believe that by 2020 about a half of all
transactions will be done via mobile devices,” he added.
Telefónica spokesperson Hany Farghali
told Cards International that customers will be able to
make contactless payments with their smartphones in outlets that
have Ingenico’s contactless enabled terminals.
