EZ-Link has partnered with American Express (Amex) and Yalamanchili on a new contactless prepaid card aimed at young people in Singapore.

The Imagine American Express Prepaid Card is the first Amex-branded prepaid card in the world and can be used for public transport, taxis, electronic parking systems and with merchants who accept EZ-Link in Singapore.

Targeted at young adults aged between 17 and 25 it has been launched alongside a mobile app on which cardholders can view merchant offers, card transactions and balance information in real-time.

Kula Kulendran, American Express’ executive vice president and head of global network services for Japan, Asia-Pacific and Australia, said: "We believe the Imagine Card will enable us to reach out to a new segment of young and digital savvy consumers. We are privileged to partner with EZ-Link, an indispensable part of many Singaporeans’ daily life. With the combined strengths of the EZ-Link and American Express, we can help offer greater choice and convenience to consumers and expand the benefits of both EZ Link and the American Express brand to a broader base of consumers in Singapore."

Yalamanchili has been providing prepaid solutions to EZ-Link since April 2009. Ramakrishna Yalamanchili, Founder and CEO, said: "EZ-Link has created a truly innovative prepaid card solution that is not only the first American Express contactless prepaid card, but also provides cash rebates on transport passes and two separate spending purses. We are thrilled that our next generation platform has also been launched with EZ-Link and look forward to future projects together."
