Biometric technology companies IDEX Biometrics ASA and Zwipe have joined forces to provide a complete biometric payment card system solution.
Under the agreement, IDEX Biometrics sensor products will be integrated with the Zwipe Pay ONE platform.
Zwipe CEO André Løvestam said: “IDEX Biometrics has developed a next-generation fingerprint sensor.
“We are ideally positioned to take a leading position in the biometric payments market, providing smart card manufacturers with a superior offering in terms of energy efficiency and biometric performance at industry-leading manufacturing costs.”
As the integrated solution gets ready for trial, the firms intend to formalise cross-licensing of intellectual property as well as a joint marketing approach.
The Zwipe Pay ONE platform is powered by a single-chip biometric secure element that includes the operating system and proprietary software.
This is said to serve as a “compelling” proposition for global card manufacturers.
IDEX Biometrics CEO Vincent Graziani said: “We believe the combination of Zwipe Pay ONE with IDEX next generation sensor has strong potential to become a market leading solution.
“IDEX is providing fingerprint sensors and technical expertise towards the shared goal of accelerating adoption of biometric payment cards.”
IDEX Biometrics recently announced that its dual interface technology has been included in a recently certified biometric payment card.
