German digital payment company Wirecard has launched its mobile payment solution boon in Switzerland with Apple Pay support.

The boon solution, which is based upon a digital prepaid Mastercard, will allow users to top-up their account via debit or credit card.

Additionally, the app will allow users to make payments at any NFC-capable point-of-sale terminal where Mastercard Contactless payments are accepted. Users can also make transactions without cash or a bank card using the app.

Wirecard said that when customers use their credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers, instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device.

Wirecard executive vice president of consumer solutions Georg von Waldenfels said: “Our intention is to offer an unparalleled mobile payment experience to even more users. By launching boon with Apple Pay in Switzerland we are taking another step forward, bringing mobile payment to the next level through enhanced user-friendly experiences, leveraged by innovative, safe technology.”

In January 2017, Wirecard rolled out its payment solution in France to support Apple Pay.
