Payment wallet firm Wirex has introduced new crypto-enabled, multi-currency Visa Travelcard for customers across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

Users of the Wirex Visa Travelcard can spend both crypto and fiat currencies. Cardholders will be able to gain crypto rewards on travelling.

The company said that the new card supports more than 150 currencies and allows payments at 54 million outlets accepting Visa globally. It also comes with free international ATM withdrawals.

Wirex Visa Travelcard offers up to 1.5% back in Bitcoin on all in-store transactions through its Cryptoback programme.

Wirex co-founder and CEO Pavel Matveev said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer the full Wirex experience and empower customers across APAC to take control of their crypto and traditional currency.

“This unparalleled functionality and versatility make the Wirex Visa Travelcard the perfect travel companion, whether customers are travelling abroad for business or leisure.”

The company has eliminated fees, including account management and standard currency exchange fees, for a limited period. This is intended to help improve customer access to the new card.

Wirex launched the travel card at Singapore Fintech Festival 2019 as part of its general expansion strategy in the region.

In April this year, Wirex announced plans to launch 26 stablecoins on the Stellar blockchain network. These cryptocurrencies can be spent via its existing multi-currency Visa card, which supports ten fiat currencies and eight cryptocurrencies.
